The Treatment of Asbestosis and Its Limits

What is Asbestosis?
Asbestosis is a non-cancerous condition which occurs chronically in an individual who has undergone short to significant amounts of exposure to the materials known as asbestos. The treatment options for asbestosis are very limited and strongly depend on the patient's overall health condition.

What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a naturally occurring combination of elements which carries many useful properties. One of the uses for asbestos happens to be a useful building material to put inside structures to help extend the life of the structure itself. The problem with Asbestos in any form is that it poses as a dangerous element to people when inhaled.
Although, you may not develop any problems from exposure to asbestos right away, you could end up with an incurable condition which had not come until 15 to 30 years after initial exposure.
What are the signs of Asbestosis?
Asbestosis is a condition which affects the lungs much like someone would experience pneumonia although Asbestosis will come back and repeat itself chronically while pneumonia does not. You more than likely do not have Asbestosis if it has not been long since you were initially exposed to the asbestos itself, although it would still be wise to consult a medical professional about what the problem may be. Asbestosis tends to generally occur most commonly in the 10 to 15 years after initial exposure to the actual asbestos.
Some signs that you may have Asbestosis start at shortness of breath being your most commonly found symptom, and following into constant and chronic cough, chest tightness and pain, odd sounds in the lungs while exhaling, and more.
Can Asbestosis give me cancer?
Asbestosis is a non-cancerous condition meaning it cannot actually give you cancer itself or carry any form of cancer. But that does not mean you are not able to have or get cancer while having Asbestosis.
On the other hand people who have asbestosis and people who have been exposed to asbestos in general are found to be much more likely to develop conditions such as lung cancer in comparison to perfectly healthy individuals.
This is why people who have been exposed to asbestos, or have any related or unrelated chest problems should consider quitting smoking or at least cutting down on their habits if they want to dramatically eliminate the possibility of developing lung cancer, or any lung problems in the near to far future.
